digital imitation?
make a frame myself (metal?)
broken glass / textures layered on top like a collage.
-> also images could sit inside some of the fragments

is remaking this digitally and put a video inside each fragment

went to the metal workplace to do a workshop; played with MIG welding. I liked the shaped that came out of this, as well as the combination with rust.. natural decay
[i'm doing things: reflections & overview]
< [overlap][with metal workshop] >
It seems that I'm into decay lately;
both the aesthetic of that which is broken; the fragility and the idea of chance/coincidence.
Something to do with curating mess or accidence
& working along with this
[research]
Brass Knuckles are illegal in NL / Belgium, but what if they hold a different look/play with the idea of masculinity-femininity in brass knuckles;
cute brass knuckles n_n and self defence
brass knuckle handbag?
how does this also tie back into fantasy weapons? my tiny sword/dagger/trident obsession
daggers, swords & tridents
all started from Durga's weapons; Hindu mother goddess who protects children, turned into obsession for these weapons especially in the digital realm (through rpg games)
swords with symbolic meanings?
tokens / spells / keeping for safety / lucky charms /
like [coins] [horse shoes] [goldfish?] [4-leaf clover]
[number 7] [rainbow] [ladybug] but also something one can decide for themselves, like a [lucky underwear]
research more into this? items designed for superstition, storytelling & folklore
[number 7]
The ancient Greeks called 7 "the perfect number," the sum of 3 (triangle) and 4 (square), which are perfect forms. Seven is an important number in other ways, too:
There are 7 days of the week.
There are 7 colors in the rainbow.
7 planets are visible to the naked eye.
The 7th son of a 7th son is supposed to be especially gifted and lucky.
7 is a winning roll in many games of chance.
7 holes in a horseshoe
funny how these things then become capitalist product; somehow it seems that luck is not something that can be both, however, it then gets incorporated into so many buyable objects
go to ceramics and remake/remix brass knuckles
aluminium omsmelten
piepschuim als mal
brass knuckles [boksbeugel] are forbidden, however it's described as a metal object that 4 fingers fit in. If its three fingers f.e. is it still considered one?
-> also f.e. self defence for transcommunity
I followed the aux sessions: loop-loop-loop workshop by noiserr & mattin and these were my notes:
Excerpt from my application:
I've always been very intrigued by technology / the aesthetics of the "digital" especially in relation to the "natural", how for example law of physics are not limiting in digital space- or forgotten about. I'd be interested in investigating ways to translating notions familiar within digital environments back into physical space.
I also touched upon the subject of techno paganism during my graduation project of my bachelors' meaning how digital tools and technology change spirituality and ritual performance, which still has a lot of potential to experiment with. Maybe I could set up some of these rituals; invite others to participate and rethink the idea of the ritual in general. I'd like to see how and when collaborative work-making ignites community building
[visual snacks]
are brass knuckles also about the material? disposables brass knuckles, or made out of wood?
maybe reality versus fantasy; brass knuckles meeting fantasy weapons?
embroidery/womens work & witchcraft
techno paganism
type tests that I didn't use for narrative video but liked–save for later
embroidered spell?
Punto in aria—literally, "stitches in the air"—is one of the earliest styles of needle lace, which is itself developed from cutwork of primarily geometric design. When lacemakers transitioned to using a foundation of threads laid out according to a pattern drawn on parchment, they were able to incorporate more fluid lines and curves into their designs. The potential of the technique is well illustrated by this piece, the center of a chalice veil, which depicts a saint, possibly Augustine, holding a bishop’s crozier. The facial features, costume details, and hands are delineated by corded and buttonholed threads.
overlap I see in keywords right now
(contemporary) witchcraft — techno paganism — organic shapes / "nature" versus metal / digital — spirituality — storytelling — fantasy — my(s)thical — decay —
folklore
<----^
combine these two in metal workspace;
playing with witchcrafty natural elements on metal
folklore–hiërogliefen–cave paintings
what on metal? digital folklore?
on top of computers & keyboards;
what type of story?
gelukspoppetjes?
Fellowship Program
Clementine Edwards notes
I enjoyed the writing of "de slaapkamer", it played with notions of sex positivity, non-patriarchal, consensual and pleasure first sex. However it also plays with humour, f.e. mentioning "biodegradable lube" (rethinking non-oppressive/not making fun of another type-humour) + was inspired by the use of horoscopes characteristics in a fun way (she must be a gemini) and "Ethical Slut on the bed-stay"
ideas ¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø
1. Different stories can be read in different ways; setting scenes for reading; the psychiatrist bed; SM basement; how does this infect the reading, also playing with in what setting the "intellectual" is meant to manoeuvre and in what (feminine f.e.) spaces this is not meant to be in. I could create these spaces; and curate different types of reading there.
2. Manifesting// Rewriting history: grabbing some of these classic history books we would get in high school and redesign + rewrite these stories. Magical Realism? Debating fact / fiction, who writes history & how storytelling + manifesting different outcomes, reimagining worlds to create new worlds and connections from.
3. Tiny sculptures that can be carried around. The pocket is a private space that one carries with them. Maybe these pocket sculptures are something you can touch to give some strength when for example someone misgendered you, or made a racial comment. I could work with people who experience this to find out what shape the sculpture can have, things that give joy / counter that which has been said

Sri Lankan mat weaving [url]
Mat weaving has been in play for countless years in Sri Lanka. The *padura* (mat) was generally found for general use at every home in the bygone days.
It’s an all-purpose movable item and its purposes were and are many; from a (1) tuck-away bed, to a (2)dining table, as a mat to (3)listen to the preaching of the Dhamma, to a (4) stage of musical evenings with the ever famous ‘paduru' parties etc.
Folk poems called “Paduru Kavi” which were sung by the early craftswomen when weaving mats.
Today, although its general use in the households have diminished and the industry is in decline, it still reflects a rich cultural heritage of the country. One particular attribute of Sri Lankan traditional mat is the rich and intricate weaving patterns/motifs or *Paduru Rataa.*
→ Reed (Pan) can be classified as a grass and is the sole raw material in the production of mats in Sri Lanka and is grown all around the Island.
(again) this relation of ritual, to folklore, storytelling, with use of certain objects & how they shape the experience
[url 2]
[url 3: video]
The fluidity of the object; both in where it can be located as well as what it entails for the ritual itself
> pockets as safe space [apria journal]
> objects that are used to de-stress, ADHD (fidgets)
maybe it's not so much about "safe space" but more so based on "a room of one's own", where safe space has to do with privacy; a space to exist like no one is watching, to behave without being judged but true to ones necessities at that moment in time
How by seeing patterns; something repeated it can start to get meaning;
a (self-) constructed meaning but also a (uncfocus point
f.e. seeing the same type of car, when my grandfather returns to my
mothers dreams, 11:11
